Nikki Latto is an attractive young woman, who likes dogs. You wouldn't know that she was stone cold deaf.

Here, she talks about her hearing aid, an ingenious machine, that enables her to recognise sounds, or rather not at first.

"All I can hear is noise and it doesn't make sense," she remembers.

Slowly, over time, she assimilated the noise into recognisable shapes. She heard bird song suddenly and understood what it was. Such revelations changed her life.

Tadhg O'Sullivan's miniature documentary is informative, sympathetic and quietly impressive.
